Louise Peters, Psy.D.

Louise Dr. Peters specializes in adults, seniors, and couples. She treats people for depression, grief, loss, anxiety, chronic pain, and other stress-related symptoms. Dr. Peters has worked extensively with people who are living with stressful situations or who have experienced traumatic events, including abuse, violence, and natural disasters. She enjoys working with people in life transitions, such as loss of relationship, relocation, career choices, lifestyle choices, pre-marriage, pregnancy/postpartum, pregnancy loss, divorce, widowhood, and aging. She has broad experience and training in many types and methods of psychotherapy. Given this, she is able to customize her therapeutic approach depending on her client's problem, needs, and wishes. Her selected methods have clear scientific support for their effectiveness and efficiency.

Dr. Peters has worked for more than 15 years in psychiatric hospitals, community mental health centers, women's centers, university counseling centers, and independent practice. She has taught women's mental wellness and facilitated numerous psychotherapy groups and wellness retreats. In addition to her clinical practice, Louise provides consultation, professional training, and supervision to emerging psychotherapists.

Dr. Peters received her master's and doctorate degrees in clinical psychology from Argosy University in Honolulu, Hawaii. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in rehabilitation medicine from Queen's University in Kingston, Canada. She graduated with honors and was awarded membership to the Pinnacle Honor Society. She also won the outstanding service award from the Sexual Abuse Center in Honolulu. Dr. Peters is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Florida Psychological Association, and the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology.
