Joseph Walden, Psy.D.

Dr. Joseph Walden is a licensed psychologist in the state of Florida. He earned his doctorate degree from the Florida School of Professional Psychology and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Florida State University. He was trained as a generalist and can treat a wide range of psychiatric and behavioral concerns, but he has developed a niche working with the military population. He is personally and professionally invested in the treatment of the military population. His father was a 23-year Army veteran and was the one who originally sparked his interest in the treatment of trauma.
While working at the Bay Pines VAMC in St. Petersburg, Florida, he was trained and now is certified in the VA-approved evidence-based Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) designed specifically to treat PTSD. There, he worked with veterans who had comorbid conditions of substance abuse and PTSD. After the VA, he worked at a private practice in Venice, FL, where he continued to gain experience in trauma treatment with different types of trauma to include survivors of motor vehicle accidents, natural disasters, domestic violence, sexual assault(s), and adult survivors of childhood abuse.
At Baytree Behavioral Health, Dr. Walden works almost exclusively with veterans, reservists, or active-duty military. He also works as a contractor with the VA and is a certified VA Compensation and Pension Examiner and can help with completing disability evaluations, answer service-connected disability questions, and provide resources to help submit accurate claims. Dr. Walden works to be realistic and practical, and tailors all therapeutic interventions to the individual. He will use a collaborative, educational approach to help clients become their own therapists to ensure that all therapeutic gains are maintained in the future. He uses research-based interventions designed for the specific concerns that the individual presents and works to provide relief as quickly as possible.
